Encounter Summary:

Jeanne Hyde heard transient calls on both the Lime Kiln and OrcaSound hydrophones (a little louder on OrcaSound) and called Dave at home around 1550. Jeanne went to scan from the County Park as the word went out. There were a few more calls on both (again a little louder on OrcaSound)hydrophones at 1623 and then word came that Tom and Jane Cogan spotted them while scanning from their porch as the whales headed north past D'Arcy Island around 1630.
Dave and Jeanne scrambled for the boat while Tom and Jane kept the whales in sight from shore. Chimo departed Snug Harbor at 1655 and found the whales with Tom and Jane's help at 1707 just north of Halibut Island. T2B was traveling north by herself and briefly porpoised before angling sharply west toward a reef east of Mandarte Island. The T60's appeared a few hundred yards away on the other side of the reef. We headed over to the T60's who were traveling slowly west. T2B did not join the T60's in the fifteen minutes we were with them and we did not see her again. We left the T60's at 1728 still heading slowly west off the north side of Mandarte Island after the sun had set and light was fading.
