Encounter Summary:
Just as the sun was about to set, Ken saw a dark fin off Bellevue Point San Juan Island, so he raced to “Chimo” and caught up with the whales off False Bay as the light was beginning to fade. The photos are not good, but T123, T123A, and T123C are evident. The entire encounter lasted five minutes during which the three whales took turns popping up to the surface seemingly randomly and far apart. I presume they were on a foraging mission, but I did not stick around to see. A light drizzle was beginning to fall as “Chimo” returned to Snug Harbor.
