Encounter Summary:

After we left the residents at 1540 about a mile or so south of Turn Point, "Shachi" headed home toward Snug Harbor. We took Mosquito Pass home in an effort to avoid lumpy seas in Haro Strait south of Stuart Island. As we came through the south end of Mosquito Pass, we caught sight of a few whales near the east side of Open Bay. The whales went on a long dive and came up near the south end of Mitchell Bay. They turned out to be the T65As and we only stayed for one quick pass. The whales continued south into deteriorating sea conditions in a tight group about a quarter mile from shore.
