Encounter Summary:
Returning from Sequim in mid-day, Ken encountered a very spread out assemblage of J and K whales travelling and foraging toward the southeast along the west side of San Juan Island. A few individual fish chases were observed, but no fish scales were seen in the "tracks" left by the whales. Perhaps the fish, if caught, were smaller and swallowed whole rather than broken apart and shared.
Notes-Comments:The encounter was brief because it is very inefficient to try to identify very many whales when they are spread miles apart.
