Encounter Summary:

The residents that had come into the Salish Sea late in the day on 29 August, arriving at the San Juan Island shore off Pile Point around sunset in a formidable line of fish predators that split into two large groups. Melissa Pinnow was there to observe them as they parted: L12s, K12s, K16s, L47s, L26s, and L43s turning south toward Eagle Point, while the L4s, K13s, K14s and J pod turned north toward Lime Kiln Point. By the next day, on 30 August, the latter group was reported near the Fraser River entrance, and the others were represented by a few Ks identified off Eagle Point and a report of residents heading west from Race Rocks. In the morning of 31 August the northern group was reported to be moving back toward San Juan Island, so Ken embarked in "Chimo" from Port Angeles to meet up with them in Haro Strait before they depart the area again. A priority was to see how J28 looks, and she was found foraging with J54, and a rambunctious group of juveniles near Pile Point. She appeared more active than previously reported and her "peanut head" appearance is not any worse than previously.

Notes-Comments: K36 was photo-identified today and appeared fine.
