Encounter Summary:
We left Victoria's Harbour at 1300 on Shachi. I got a phone call from Ron Bates at 1430 about killer whales 5 miles south of Point no Point (west of Sheringham light). They were spotted at 1410 by Chris Bain ("Five-0") from shore. No direction of travel was confirmed.
We decided to follow up on the report and started heading west from south of Discovery Island. We were 5 miles south of Jordan River when we finally spotted blows at 1615. The first whales observed were L72 and L105 west bound. The rest were spread to the south and were doing long dives.
TheY started to feed and group up at 1730. We left them at 1800 north west of Clallam Bay as they were still heading west towards Cape Flattery.
